Commissary Case Lot Sale - Mix N Match

If you are a military family, case lot sales at the local Commissary probably puts a smile on your face.  Word came out today of a Commissary Case Lot Mix N Match sale.

September case lot sale offers 'mix n' match'

Customers who want to experience savings well beyond their usual commissary shopping and customize their own cases in the process cannot afford to miss the Defense Commissary Agency's worldwide case lot sale in September, said the agency's director and CEO.

"We always have great oversized deals at these sales events - often at savings of 50 percent or more," Joseph H. Jeu said. "What's more, this will mark the second worldwide event where we've offered customers a unique opportunity to create their own cases by mixing and matching products."

DeCA first offered the opportunity to mix and match during the May case lot event. This is how it works: The commissary will set aside an area where customers can mix like items of similar size and price - such as canned goods, cereals or sodas - in the same case. However, there will be some products excluded from the mix. Asparagus, for example, is priced higher than other vegetables and cannot be matched with other items.

Aside from mixing and matching, the event itself is a virtual carnival of activity as shoppers grab oversized products for either back-to-school meals, emergency survival kits or  just stocking their pantries, said Charlie Dowlen, DeCA's promotions manager.

"Case lot sales offer our customers hundreds upon hundreds of items, many in club pack packaging that resembles the multiple bulk-sized products they'd see in off-post warehouse club stores," he said. "You'd think the county fair was in town, with all the people looking for great deals beyond the everyday savings they see in their commissaries."

The September event features about 360 different products for all occasions:
  • Back-to-school items for students of all ages, such as trail mix, nuts and fruit bars, 100- percent juice, sports drinks and kids' complete meals
  • Breakfast foods, such as pancake mix, syrup, corn muffin mix, muffins and cereals
  • Pastas, rice, soups and sauces
  • Deep discounts on dog and cat food - bags and cans - and kitty litter
  • Paper goods, diapers, razors and shave gel, soap products and shampoo
  • Special frozen foods: waffles, sausage links, chicken, fruit pies, family-size entrees and pizza
Without a doubt, DeCA's worldwide case lot sales have become "must-attend" events, Dowlen said. "Don't take my word for it. Ask the veteran commissary shoppers who circle their calendars for these events every September and May."
Although most commissaries participate in case lot sales, store sales dates can vary from as early as the third weekend of August to as late as the third weekend of October; so customers are asked to check the schedule for your local store's sale dates by going to the special case lot sale Web page at: http://www.commissaries.com/case_lot_sale.cfm
